Early-career chemists who have already obtained a PhD, and who are citizens of the designated region of focus for that year. For the 2026 grant the designated region was South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean; regions rotate annually.
Notification sent to all applicants in late January
Application plus a letter of recommendation from a supervisor, mentor or colleague describing how attending Pittcon will benefit the applicant's professional development.
Geographic eligibility rotates each year — confirm the designated region before applying. Funded by Pittcon, its sponsoring organizations and the Wallace Coulter Foundation; ACS staff book the travel arrangements.
