SING Sábme 2025 Workshop

August 12-16, 2025

SING (Summer Internship for Indigenous peoples in Genomics) will host a special workshop in Sweden from August 12-16, 2025. This represents an exciting international collaboration focusing on Indigenous approaches to genomics.

  • Location: Lule Sámi area of Sweden (Sábme/Sápmi territories)
  • Format: One-week, all-expenses-paid residential program
  • Focus: Combines hands-on, place-based education in Sámi cultural practices with practical training in environmental genomics
  • Participants: Priority given to Sámi applicants, with limited spots potentially available for Indigenous participants from other regions
  • Registration: Opens in early 2025, closes March 31, 2025
  • Unique aspect: Collaboration between SING Canada and local Sámi reindeer herding communities
