CBH CIRCLE is an Affiliate Partner of the Canadian Bioinformatics Hub.
Minimum grant 100 EUR, maximum grant 500 EUR (per the IMSF call documents). For IMSC 2022 the tiers were EUR 250 for travel from within Europe and EUR 500 for travel from outside Europe.
Students. Students must be a member of one of the affiliate societies of the IMSF. The award supports student participation in the International Mass Spectrometry Conference and, in parallel calls, the International Mass Spectrometry School. IMSF describes the scheme as enabling early-career researchers from underrepresented areas to attend international schools and conferences, with need assessed by the IMSF based on accessible public data.
TBD for the 2026 Lyon edition — no IMSC 2026 Nico Nibbering call date appeared in search results. Confirmed 2022 pattern: the deadline for Nico Nibbering Student Travel Awards to IMSC2022 (Maastricht) was extended to August 12th; a parallel IMSS call deadline was extended to November 4th, 2021.
Submit the IMSF Nico Nibbering Student Travel Award application form (downloadable with each cycle's call for applications), specifying the name of the applicant's IMSF-affiliated society and confirming student status.
The award is a PERSONAL grant to the student award winner and is not an institutional grant. Membership of an IMSF affiliate society is mandatory. Critically: the IMSC 2026 organisers state on their own Call for Abstracts FAQ that there is NO financial support provided by IMSC 2026 for abstract presenting authors and that speakers must pay the registration fee — so the Nico Nibbering scheme is an IMSF-level instrument that operates alongside, and independently of, the conference budget. Confirm the 2026 call is open before planning around it.

Research match: Strong match to the MS half of Wishart's analytical program — MS-based metabolomics, CFM-ID spectral prediction, and the spectral-library curation behind HMDB and NP-MRD. IMSC 2026 tracks span fundamentals and instrumentation, life sciences and health, chemistry and materials, environment and energy, plus grand challenges, and the meeting accommodates well over 1,500 participants. The environment/energy track connects to his environmental metabolomics work. Note this is a biennial conference: IMSC 2026 in Lyon is followed by the next IMSC in 2028, so there is NO 2027 edition.
